High quality digital recordings on USB memory sticks

"It's a wonderful service,"  say listeners

Our adoption of USB memory sticks to carry the high quality recordings, created in our underground, purpose-built studio, has enabled our listeners to experience maximum clarity when playing the weekly talking newspapers and monthly magazines in their homes. The 12-track programme also offers easy navigation between news and feature sections.

For the technically minded ........

Our recordings are made on computer and the hour-long weekly talking newspaper is track-marked to enable division into individual sections for main news, what's ons, features, sport, area reports and so on.

A master is then 'written' in mp3 format on a memory stick and that is used in a separate dedicated cloning unit to create the required number of memory sticks for despatch to listeners.

Memory sticks are returned by listeners via 'Articles for the Blind' free post (as happened previously with cassettes) and the returned sticks are simply overwritten by the cloning unit with the subsequent programme.

There are no moving parts within the memory sticks and they can be played on a variety of portable or desk device in the home such as a dedicated self-contained loudspeaker unit, a radio with a USB socket or on any computer.
